Fagor Pressure Cooker Review

Fagor is among top pressure cooker manufactures on the market for decades. With years of experience and big number of great quality products, Fagor pressure cooker is now respected kitchen product. We have many cookware on our disposal. yet the quality that Fagor offers is something we value and find it to be among best choices.

If you didn't have experience with a Fagor pressure cooker before, then you don't know that it's being used by big number of housewives and professionals. Some qualities that kept it in the top for so long are delicious and healthy meals cooked in record time with ease. Safety features of every Fagor pressure cooker are what makes it so attractive and long lasting. Locking handle will prevent opening under pressure while spring valve with an auto pressure release will get rid of the extra pressure that can be built up in the cooker. These safety mechanisms are necessity which should be a standard for all pressure cookers out there.

Quality of the pressure cooker parts is what puts Fagor ahead of other manufacturers. Exterior mirror finish and a high gauge stainless steel with aluminum base gives fantastic heat distribution to their Fagor pressure cookers.

Some advantages concerning safety are that all models contain three safety mechanisms that allow steam to escape when over-pressurizing happens. This means that the lids will not open at all until steam has dissipated and pressure has been released.

Be aware that most Fagor pressure cookers come with a trivet and a steamer basket. Trivet is usually placed to the bottom of Fagor pressure cooker while the steamer basket is on the top. We use basket for steaming foods without putting them into the cooking liquid. You probably know this is very useful for steaming all sorts of vegetables. Basket never comes in contact with any liquid.

To build the pressure in the cooker, cooking liquid must be brought to a boiling point while lid is positioned and locked into place. While the cooking liquid boils, steam is being produced in a Fagor pressure cooker. Steam will then build up the pressure because it can't escape from the pot. Then the pressure regulator valve will activate and release the steam when necessary. To release the pressure, remove the pressure cooker from the burner. But be aware that the contents will continue to cook until the temperature and level of pressure drop.

If your Fagor pressure cooker is not building up pressure, it probably isn't properly closed, there isn't enough cooking liquid or you didn't heated the cooker enough.

You will know that you have a good cooking pressure when the regulator valve is rising and showing maximum pressure, there will be a hissing sound coming out of the pressure cooker and a steam will escape from the valve. There are three ways of releasing pressure in a Fagor pressure cooker. Natural method - means you will let the temperature drop easily while your food is inside, being cooked slowly. Cold water - means you will put some cold water on the lid to release the pressure. Automatic release - all Fagor models have valves that will release the pressure so you dont need to put them under cold water.

Fagor Splendid pressure cooker and Fagor Duo Pressure cooker are among best known products from Fagor. They are ideal for use on all heat sources including gas, electric, ceramic top and induction. You can find them in 10, 8, 6, 4 quart sizes. Whether you chose Fagor Splendid or Fagor Duo pressure cooker, you will not go wrong.

Pressure cooking is quite easy. Simply put the food into pot, lock the lid, select the pressure setting you need, cook the food, then release pressure and open lid to enjoy your meal. With Fagor pressure cooker, you have a safe cooking experience and a tasty meal for you and your family.

  4. We are currently working on reviewing this pressure cooker. Like the other commenter mentioned several Fagor models are made in China.

Although not always a negative, we share their view in trying to find as many domestically made products as possible.

  5. Fagor took a simple mechanism (the jiggler weight) and jazzed it up with a spring loaded safety valve. I used it once, and the spring mechanism failed to properly lock the lid, hence no pressure. It is still not working . . I have cooked with pressure cookers for 40 yrs . .This one is lousy . . Back to my old Presto

  6. Yes, sadly we have to buy from China sometimes. What gets me is that the directions are ridiculous...very confusing!

  7. I have just bought a Fagor Duo 9.6 litre pressure cooker. It is made in Spain and the instruction manual is written in clear English as is the colourful recipe booklet.

  9. What advantage has the made in China model have over others?

  10. to M

Its advantage is that it is cheaper. Many good old American products are now made in China, which usually leads to lower quality. This isn't a rule, but it's a case in most products made in China.

  11. Why is the food catching on the bottom with a burning smell after about 10 minutes on high, I thought it might be due to insufficient liquid so I put a lot in this time and it was less burnt but it still happened. the smell is bad.
