Hawkins Pressure Cooker Review

Since I was away for a while, I couldn't bring any new pressure cooker reviews to this blog. I've been busy with some other things, but the good news is that I found a friend that gladly wrote a short review for me. And it is also possible to have some pressure canner and rice cooker reviews in the future. We will see about that. Now I'll let you read a new Hawkins pressure cooker review.

Two years have passed since I started cooking with a Hawkins cooker. At first, I thought this won't be such a good product for me to buy. I heard some lousy things about it, but I kept it in my mind somehow. I think it was because it is looking so cute and sophisticated, so even after I was reluctant to buy it, I still thought about doing it.

I must say that I was never a big fan of rice being made in any cooker, not just Hawkins, so I didn't have the hunger for this particular item. But after some time, I decided to try it out. It was mostly because of the way it looks, I remember thinking that a cookware like this has to be in good shape.

And when this black beauty finally arrive to my home (I ordered it through Amazon.com), I was excited because I was going to try something new. I remember that so clearly. I wanted to try it with rice, first thing I ever cooked. It was all good until the cooker made some noise. That was pressure being released and I didn't know is it over or something gone wrong. I know it had to whistle, I read that in the manual, but I didn't hear it whistle at all. I waited for a bit, but that didn't happened.

I turned it off and removed it from the stove. I thought I overcooked my first meal and I released the pressure. That was partially true so I had to change my strategy. Next time I lowered the flame just after some steam appeared. This was it and the cooking was just the way I hoped for. The meal was delicious and tasty. The juices rice made was something I never tasted before. I guess that this Hawkins is really good cooker. I was actually being unaware of that until that day. I was persuaded, because I had the proof right in my kitchen.

Then I tried peas, a soup and got to more serious meals like roast and chicken. It all went well. You have to know how much time you need for a certain meal, and how long you want to cook it. Hawkins is good, but its you who decides on the quality actually. You have to be there to make that choice.

I say this because I got one for my mother and she needs only 2 whistles to cook green peas, while I needed 20 to 30. I guess that there is some difference in the water. I heard that hard water can make a difference there.

In overall, the Hawking pressure cooker really does the great job. I save a lot of time and get better meals. On the negative side is that it is a bit expensive. Some will say that it isn't, since it has a good price compared to other brands. But that still means it is not cheap. But I don't mind it, it lasts long enough so I am satisfied with me choice.

Free Slow Cooker Recipes

In this informative article about cooking, we will tell you about our views on slow cooker recipes. We are confident that you'll find this article contributive. I have been on the hunt for good slow cooker recipes for a long time, and I can't seem to find anything that I like. I guess it is because I am very picky about what I like to eat, and many of the recipes that I come upon have something in them that I just can't stomach.

I am still searching though, and I hope to come up with at least ten of them that are really good and really easy to throw together. There are just days when I know I have a lot of work to do and I would rather spend my free time with my little girl than by cooking a meal. Slow cooker recipes are everywhere, and you can find them with a simple search online. The most common type are recipes for stew, but they all seem to have the same ingredients.

The problem that I have is that I do not like cooked onions, and if a recipe calls for them, I wont make it. My husband thinks I'm being silly, but I just can't eat them. I like them raw on a burger or hot-dog, but I cannot stand to have them in slow cooker recipes. Unfortunately, this cuts down my options quite substantially.

Do you feel as though you have a firm grasp of the basics of this subject? If so, then you are ready to read the next part. You may not be as picky as I am, and if that is the case, you should have no problem finding slow cooker recipes that you will love to make for your family. For the most part, you simply add the ingredients to your cooker, turn it on and let it go all day. You shouldn't even have to stir it.

You can even find great slow cooker recipes in your local grocery store. They have kits that are already put together and you usually find them in the freezer section. All you have to do is dump the contents into your crock-pot and turn it on. It doesn't get much easier than that. I may end up having to find slow cooker recipes that I can alter. Though this might take some doing, I'm sure there is something I can do. I am not a chef, but I do know how to experiment, even if it means ordering pizza a few nights when a few of my creations have not worked out like I had hoped they did. In the mean time, I will continue to search for slow cooker recipes that might be able to be used, and perhaps try a few from the grocery store.

It is small things, like this article, that may help you in your search for information about slow cooker recipes. So, take a moment and choose which road would be best for you to pursue.

Philippe Richard Pressure Cooker

Just a quick post about Philippe Richard pressure cookers. I found that they are extremely affordable, so for all of you who can't afford a quality pressure cooker like Fagor, this could be a good solution.

Considering the quality of this pressure cooker, I do not have any certain information. But I guess it's not a durable product, since you are able to find a Phillie Richard pressure cooker for the price of $29.99 only. But in case this slow cooker is not able to deliver what you need, you can still use it for different purposes. Sometimes it happens that a new cooker can't keep the pressure, but you can still use it as a regular pot, making soup in it and other meals. It's great that they are so thick so they are very useful cookware in overall.

Once again, if you have those 30 bucks, try to purchase Phillipe Richard cooker and see what you can get out of it. If you want something more serious, then a Fagor, Presto or Nesco cookers should be your target.

All American Pressure Cooker

Since 1930, All American pressure cookers are manufactured by Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry. Besides cookers, they also manufacture high quality pressure canners that are used to store and preserve food. If you are already set on one of the All American cookers, then you have chosen a great product for your kitchen.

The biggest advantage and one thing All American pressure cookers are known for is their sealing system. It is a so called Metal To Metal system, which uses clamping licks that align the cover to the steel container, thus making the tight seal. This is as strong as they can get. Since there is no gasket involved in this process, the cover can be easily closed and opened.

You can use these pressure cookers to prepare all sorts of food, such as meat, rice, fish, vegetables and so on. Also, you are able to can the food. We recommend that you use pressure canner for that, but if you know what you are doing and have a good recipes on canning the food in the pressure cooker, then you can go for it.

You should know that this is the safest pressure cooker. It has six locking screws that are holding the lid down. The pressure will never blow the lid off, since there are another three hooks to stop it. And with a rubber pressure gasket, the extra steam is released easy, when needed. The only maintaining you will have to do with the All American pressure cookers is to replace that rubber once in a while.

The steam valve on the top of a cooker is regulated with a knob. Be careful because it can get hot. You will have to use something to hold it, in case it gets too hot ( and it will!).

Make sure you follow all safety precautions when handling a cooker. Especially if you own one of the larger ones. They can be very heavy, even when they are empty. It is not easy to handle a 20 lbs pressure cooker, and imagine how much it weights with the content inside.

Wear mitts. Do not pour cold watter on an pressure cooker when it's hot. Let the temperature drop before you consider opening the pot at all. And make sure you are opening the lid aways from you, just to make sure. You should always be on guard, until you get some experience and figure out how to do it all properly.

These cookers are bit more expensive then some others, but they have the quality to back it up. You can also use these All American pressure cookers as canners. They are large enough and have thick container, which is the best recommendation for any type of cookware.

Most people are more then satisfied with these cookers. Some of them are not with the price, though. But you have to pay for the quality. These cookers will last for years and years, your children will be able to use them too. And the fact you can use them as cookers and canners makes them even more valuable. It's like you just bought two pots, instead of one.

Decide what you want from a cooker, then pick the one that suits you best. There are different sizes, and that's it. You don't have to worry about the features or extra little perks. Just imagine what types of food you would prepare in your All American Pressure Cooker and then choose the size that will match your needs.

Presto Cooker Review

Presto pressure cooker is a favorite cooker in US? Why most people compare and measure the quality of a pressure cooker with one of the Presto pressure cookers? Because they are the best there is. The quality of production and design can not be faked, the customer will evaluate the product once it tries to use it. And Presto pressure cooker passed so many tests until now.

And this is not surprising. Presto has been making cooker for a long time now, since 1939. But before pressure cooker, Presto was famous for their pressure canners which they used to make for commercial canneries, hotels and then the for the home use too. With so much experience in the field, it's no wonder they managed to make a pressure cooker so early and with such a success. The first pressure cookers were made of aluminum, only later they were made out of stainless steel, when the popularity and demand for Presto cookers rose to great heights.

Main benefits of using Presto cookers are:

1. You will save time on cooking
2. You will eat healthy food
3. Your meals will be tastier then ever

You can cook up to ten times faster with a pressure cooker in comparison to preparing food with ordinary methods. You will rarely use oven then, even your microwave, because the Presto pressure cooker will prepare a meal faster then microwave can.

When it comes to health and food, we all know how much is important to eat various, well prepared food. If you prepare a meal in a certain way, you will get more or less nutrients from it. Frying will kill the minerals from all sorts of food, and we all know that it's healthier to eat live vegetables then after they have been cooked. This is where Presto pressure cookers rise above the others. When you prepare a meal, any meal, in a Presto cooker, the nutrients will still remain intact. Because cookers use steam, there is no way to harm the healthy nutrients and they stay withing to meal, making it healthy and delicious.

To prepare a quality meal with Presto pressure cookers, you will have a manual that shows you what you need to take care of and what kind of recipes you can choose from. You will be able to monitor the pressure inside a Presto cooker with a cover lock indicator. It shows you when the temperature has risen enough to start the cooking process. The pressure regulator will maintain the proper pressure needed for the recipe automatically. So you do not need to watch over the Presto pressure cooker, it will do the entire job by himself.

When it comes to heat distribution, the pressure cookers are well equipped and are perfect for demanding recipes. The bimetal-clad base does a great job with providing even heat distribution.

The stainless steel is a long lasting material that ensures you have a long lasting cooking partner. This cookware is easy to clean and maintain too.

Some of the Presto pressure cookers you we want to recommend are:

1. Presto® 4-Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker

2. Presto® 6-Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker

3. Presto® Professional 8-Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker

We also want to add something about these cookers. You should not use them as pressure canners. They are not meant to be used that way, and your recipes for canning will not suit them. Their size is smaller then the size of a pressure canner, which are 19 inches and more in diameter. Use Presto pressure cookers for cooking food only. You will definitely see the advantages they have over other cookware. With one of the Presto pressure cookers you will save time, eat healthy and prepare most delicious meals.

Cuisinart Electric Pressure Cooker

We have another pressure cooker on review today. Let us see what this little appliance can do and is Cuisinart electric pressure cooker a necessary item in your kitchen.

First thing we notice about this pressure cooker is the price. It is quite higher then the average and this means we either have a high quality cooker on our hands or a company that doesn't know how to price their products. But since we know Cuisinart and since we tried to use this pressure cooker, we will go with the first possibility.

When you start Cuisinart electric pressure cooker, you will be able to cook food up to 70% faster than with using old, conventional methods. Your best choice from Cuisinart should be a 6-Quart pressure cooker that gives enough room for a family meal. How does this appliance work? With the help of pressurized steam and hot temperature, the pot keeps all healthy vitamins, nutrients and minerals from boiling away into air. Cuisinart pressure cooker seals the moisture in and manages to keep stews, vegetables, roasts more tender and delicious. You will be able to make cheesecake and even custards into creamy deserts.

You can put the food inside and let it cook until you do your chores or spend some time with family. You won't have to keep your eye on it, because it will let you know when your meal is ready. It's really easy to cook with powerful cookware like this one, Cuisinart pressure cooker is really a mighty appliance. You will have to change all your recipes and cut the time needed by 2/3. Just imagine what can you do with all that free time. And not to mention that now you will be providing your family with more healthy food than ever.

Wolfgang Puck Pressure Cooker

Wolfgang Puck is all about cooking. This is a big company that does catering, has restaurants and bars to serve you delicious food and they even have their own recipes. But you are here because of Wolfgang Puck pressure cooker and we will try to give you a good review of this product. This is probably not the last thing they will make since the company is growing and has a lot of potential. There will surely be more great cookware made the way Wolfgang Puck pressure cooker is.

The main idea behind pressure cookers is that you prepare your food faster and in more healthier manner. The food you cook is closed withing stainless steel container and when you put it on heat it will heat up the water inside. That water turns to steam and builds up pressure in Wolfgang Puck pressure cooker. The temperature is great for cooking rice, meat, vegetables or anything you would usually prepare in different types of cookware.

The goal is to finish the cooking much faster. You would usually prepare beans in 3 hours of cooking, but with Wolfgang Puck pressure cookers you can do it in one hour only. Everything else you prepare will take up only 30% of the time you used to spend before. What is even better, your food will taste better and there will be more delicious treats to try. Pressure cooker manual will explain you everything about that. We will mention something about it later in this Wolfgang Puck pressure cooker review.

When you fry meat on oil, plenty of nutrients will never survive that treatment. The temperature is too high and oil makes a hostile atmosphere, so your meal will not be so delicious. But if you prepara the same meat in your cooker, the nutrients will still be there. What is even better, meat will be more tender because it was cooker under hot pressure which helped it to release its juices and those juices are what cooked the meat, not oil.

Wolfgang Puck cooker has plenty of room for large meals. There are different sizes, of course, but wolfgang puck 5 quart electric pressure cooker is the most popular one. It has mirror finish that resists food sticking so you can easily clean up after you finish using it. LCD display has several programs and setting you will choose from, depending on what kind of food you are preparing. You can set different heat volumes as well as how long would you like Wolfgang Puck 5 Quart electric pressure cooker to work.

You can also keep your meals warm if some members of your family can't be there on time for the meal. Cooker will automatically switch off when the timer you set expires, but you can always keep an eye of whats going on if you like. Glass lid allows you to do that properly.

Since this cooker has only one year warranty, we decided to investigate a bit further. There are some problems that occur with the Wolfgang Puck pressure cookers, and they usually are with electrics. The counter can go wild or report an error but you won't know what to do about it. Also, this may cause the cooker not to reach it's heating point at which it actually makes pressure.

We suggest you do your own survey as well, but the best thing you can do is to find someone who already has one to learn from his experience. Wolfgang Puck pressure cooker 5 Quart is a good choice for your kitchen, it will definitely improve your eating lifestyle.

Pressure Canner Cooker

Before we talk about pressure canner cooker and answer can pressure cookers be used for canning food, let us say something about the process itself. Canning is a process of storing food that is supposed to last for longer period of time. It is a science actually, and is updated regularly with new recipes, equipment that can be used, timing that needs to be taken and all other important factors that will influence the consumption of that food.

Most important thing about canning is safety, so don't attempt to create your own recipes, try only tested ones. Also, use only pressure canner cooker that you know will work well with the recipe you want to try.

There are plenty of manufacturers who certify that their pressure cookers are suitable for canning, there are a lot of experts who will tell you that regular cookers won't be good for that job. They recommend using specific pressure canner cooker for this purposes. It is possible to use pressure cooker with regular lid for small batches of water bath canning. The fact still stands though, pressure cookers are really not recommended for canning because of one simple fact. Pressure canner cookers take longer periods of time for cooling and heating.

This time is important, because it is taken into account when figuring out what are the standard canning timetables. Pressure canner cooker that have smaller loads will need less time for cooling and heating. And its clear why that makes problem for accurate timing when canning food.

As you know, there are many pressure canner cookers that you can buy online and in stores, but you have to be careful what kind of pressure canner cooker you are buying. They are not all the same and can cause you problem with your canning recipes. What's worse, you can ruin the whole supply of food you wanted to can.

To answer more correctly, pressure cookers have less metal, they are smaller in diameter and use less water then pressure canners. Cookers are usually 6,8 and 10 inches wide, while pressure cooker canners have 19, 21 and 25 inches in diameter. This is a lot of difference and affects the recipe you are trying to follow.

Come up and come down times are therefore different, but they should be the same because there are exact times that were used to establish a reasonable margin of safety. The margin is 12D and it represents the amount of heat that is required to cause a 12 log reduction in bacteria for all low acid foods.

Before pressure canner cooker, the pressure saucepan was used as an alternative for home canning. Usually, ten minutes more were added to the process in order to keep the food safe. But later it was discovered that was not the fact because there were different sizes of pressure saucepans and they were not tested properly. Therefore, the recommendation is that you do not use them. And this also goes for pressure canner cooker you can find in Wal-Mart right now.

We recommend that you find All-American pressure canner or Presto pressure canner and use them. If you already have pressure cooker, please avoid using them as canners. I know you want to save money, but by using wrong equipment, you can spend money on wasted food, and what is worse, you can endanger your health.

There are plenty of choices, even online, to find suitable Presto pressure canner as well as All-American pressure canner. Stay away from some advices people may give you, that using pressure canner cooker is OK. Trust the research and the experts, they know what they are talking about.

Fagor Pressure Cooker Review

Fagor is among top pressure cooker manufactures on the market for decades. With years of experience and big number of great quality products, Fagor pressure cooker is now respected kitchen product. We have many cookware on our disposal. yet the quality that Fagor offers is something we value and find it to be among best choices.

If you didn't have experience with a Fagor pressure cooker before, then you don't know that it's being used by big number of housewives and professionals. Some qualities that kept it in the top for so long are delicious and healthy meals cooked in record time with ease. Safety features of every Fagor pressure cooker are what makes it so attractive and long lasting. Locking handle will prevent opening under pressure while spring valve with an auto pressure release will get rid of the extra pressure that can be built up in the cooker. These safety mechanisms are necessity which should be a standard for all pressure cookers out there.

Quality of the pressure cooker parts is what puts Fagor ahead of other manufacturers. Exterior mirror finish and a high gauge stainless steel with aluminum base gives fantastic heat distribution to their Fagor pressure cookers.

Some advantages concerning safety are that all models contain three safety mechanisms that allow steam to escape when over-pressurizing happens. This means that the lids will not open at all until steam has dissipated and pressure has been released.

Be aware that most Fagor pressure cookers come with a trivet and a steamer basket. Trivet is usually placed to the bottom of Fagor pressure cooker while the steamer basket is on the top. We use basket for steaming foods without putting them into the cooking liquid. You probably know this is very useful for steaming all sorts of vegetables. Basket never comes in contact with any liquid.

To build the pressure in the cooker, cooking liquid must be brought to a boiling point while lid is positioned and locked into place. While the cooking liquid boils, steam is being produced in a Fagor pressure cooker. Steam will then build up the pressure because it can't escape from the pot. Then the pressure regulator valve will activate and release the steam when necessary. To release the pressure, remove the pressure cooker from the burner. But be aware that the contents will continue to cook until the temperature and level of pressure drop.

If your Fagor pressure cooker is not building up pressure, it probably isn't properly closed, there isn't enough cooking liquid or you didn't heated the cooker enough.

You will know that you have a good cooking pressure when the regulator valve is rising and showing maximum pressure, there will be a hissing sound coming out of the pressure cooker and a steam will escape from the valve. There are three ways of releasing pressure in a Fagor pressure cooker. Natural method - means you will let the temperature drop easily while your food is inside, being cooked slowly. Cold water - means you will put some cold water on the lid to release the pressure. Automatic release - all Fagor models have valves that will release the pressure so you dont need to put them under cold water.

Fagor Splendid pressure cooker and Fagor Duo Pressure cooker are among best known products from Fagor. They are ideal for use on all heat sources including gas, electric, ceramic top and induction. You can find them in 10, 8, 6, 4 quart sizes. Whether you chose Fagor Splendid or Fagor Duo pressure cooker, you will not go wrong.

Pressure cooking is quite easy. Simply put the food into pot, lock the lid, select the pressure setting you need, cook the food, then release pressure and open lid to enjoy your meal. With Fagor pressure cooker, you have a safe cooking experience and a tasty meal for you and your family.
